Artist's Biography

Phil Chang received his MFA from the California Institute of the Arts and his BA from the University of California, Irvine. He has had solo exhibitions at LA><ART and a forthcoming solo exhibition in July with Pepin Moore. His work has been exhibited in group shows at Pepin Moore, Renwick Gallery, Angels Gallery, and The Swiss Institute, and has been featured in The New Yorker, Artforum.com and Blindspot. In 2010, Chang completed Four Over One, an artist’s journal that is published by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art in association with Textfield, Inc. Chang's curatorial projects have included Affective Turns?, a group exhibition that he organized in March 2012. He is currently a member of the visiting faculty in the Department of Art at UCLA and a lecturer at Otis College of Art and Design. Phil Chang lives and works in Los Angeles.

Curator's Biography

Justin Cole is a Los Angeles-based artist working in drawing, photography, sculpture, and audio – his multi-disciplinary practice addressing the complexities of the cultural landscape of Los Angeles, Cole’s native Detroit, and the United States in general. Cole’s work has been exhibited at Five Thirty Three, Los Angeles; The Project, Los Angeles; Lizabeth Olivera Gallery, Los Angeles; Co-Lab, Copenhagen; LA>< Art, Los Angeles; Queens Nails, San Francisco; and Centre Pour l’Art et le Culture, Aix-en-Provence, among others. Most recently, Cole presented a solo exhibition, entitled Historical Impulse, at Pepin Moore, Los Angeles. Additionally, Cole performs as part of the collaborative art and music group OJO.
