Artist's Biography

Nathan Danilowicz explores mortality, sci-fi shamanism, fractured psyches, and the liminal space between darkness and understanding in a variety of media. He has exhibited nationally and internationally, with solo exhibitions at Latned Atsär in Los Angeles in 2011, Crisp London/Los Angeles in 2008 and 2009, and the H. Lewis Gallery in Baltimore in 2004. His work has been featured extensively in group exhibitions throughout Los Angeles, including the Luckman Gallery at Cal State LA, the Santa Monica Museum of Art, Cirrus Gallery, and Art LA Contemporary. Other exhibitions includes Locust Projects and TwentyTwenty Projects in Miami; OK By Gallery, Hilary Crisp, and the Zoo Art Fair in London; Waypoint in Marfa, TX; The Luggage Store gallery in San Francisco; and performances at Jason Rhoades' Black Pussy Soirées. He received an MFA in New Genres from UCLA in 2007, a BFA from the Maryland Institute, College of Art, and attended the MacDowell Colony residency in 2008. His work has appeared in TimeOut London, Miami New Times, the Baltimore Sun, Baltimore's City Paper, artUS, PRISM Index, DIAGRAM, and Beautiful Decay. Born in Pennsylvania, he is based in Los Angeles.



Curator's Biography

Gina Osterloh is an artist and educator based in Los Angeles. Her practice investigates operations of mimesis and perception within the realm of photography. Her photographs depict constructed life-size room environments activated through still, serial performances; papier-mâché models; and cardboard cut-outs. Recent exhibitions include Body Prop at the Silverlens Gallery and Differentiate, a two-person exhibition at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She was also awarded a Medici Grant and a Completion Grant by the Silverlens Foundation of the Philippines. While at Monte Vista Projects LA, she curated the exhibition Minimum Yields Maximum, which presented conceptual and political works from the Philippines, Vietnam, and California. Upcoming projects include moving her entire studio practice into LACE (Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions) for GROUP DYNAMIC AND IMPROPER LIGHT (June-September 2012). Her work will also be exhibited in Asia Serendipity at Photo España, Madrid; Workplace Gallery UK; and ART Hong Kong. Osterloh holds a BA in media studies from DePaul University and an MFA in studio art from the University of California, Irvine. Her work is represented by Silverlens Gallery, Manila and François Ghebaly Gallery, Los Angeles.
