Artist's Biography
Nano Rubio holds an MFA from Claremont College (2011) and a BA from California State University, Bakersfield (2007). Rubio is a painter, performer, and fine artist working in Los Angeles. His work ranges in scale and texture, and he experiments extensively with different media. Rubio has participated in several solo and group shows in Southern California including Endure SUPERMAX FAR (Foundation for Art Resources), Accelerated Grimacing (DBA256 Gallery), The Gang's All Here, curated by Max Presneill, and Seven Painters I like (George Lawson Gallery).
Curator's Biography
Sean Sullivan received a BFA from Art Center College of Design in 2005, and an MFA from the University of California Irvine in 2009. Currently he is working interchangeably between drawing, painting, and digital media. His large scale mural Grand Pale Maw was on exhibit at LACE from late 2011 through early 2012. Other recent public art projects include Earth and Sky, a group installation at Los Angeles International airport. He has exhibited at EGS gallery, Switzerland; LA><ART in Culver City; Lora Schlesinger Gallery, Santa Monica; and Steve Turner Contemporary in Los Angeles. He has taught drawing courses at Southern California Institute of Architecture, and the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena. Sullivan lives and works in Lincoln Heights, California.
