Public Art Law Workshop: Artists’ Rights and Contract Issues

LACE and California Lawyers for the Arts have partnered up to offer a legal workshop on contemporary issues around public art.  The evening will include a presentation by experienced art law attorney Christine Steiner, Esq., followed by a Q&A session. The workshop will explore legal and contractual issues relevant to public artists, and will explain the Visual Artists Rights Act (VARA) andcontract terms that all public artists should know.

This event is free to the public.

Christine Steiner, Esq. is an accomplished attorney whose practice emphasizes the visual arts, art law, intellectual property, and general business transactions.  She is currently an adjunct professor of law at Loyola Law School.  Ms. Steiner prepared the Model Agreement for Public Art Commissions, published by the Public Art Network.  She also chairs the art law section of the American Bar Association.

California Lawyers for the Arts is a nonprofit organization that establishes a bridge between the arts and the legal communities so that: artists and art groups may gain greater competence in handling legal and business aspects of their creative activities; the legal  profession may become more aware of and involved in issues affecting artists and the arts community and, the law may become more responsive to the needs and interests of the arts community.
