The work in this exhibition demonstrates that there is more than one story which can be told, and that the narrative form of the written / drawn story still provides unexplored territory and a useful means for cultural intervention.
The artists in this exhibition discuss in their work what it might mean to tell a story now, what means are possible, what possible means are desirable. These artists acknowledge and participate in the pleasure of narrative, and suggest that there are still new stories to tell, and new ways in which to tell. They are concerned with what they want from a story, with what an audience might want from a story, with how much or how little to cater to our desires / expectations and their own.
Artists included: Lisa Bloomfield, Douglas Huebler, Annetta Kapon, Barbara Kruger, and Linda Nishio.
