PEN Presents: Charles Yu

February 4, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - February 5, 2020 @ 9:00 pm

February 4, 7-9pm

Free event, RSVP Here.

Charles Yu’s newest novel Interior Chinatown is a brilliant, funny, and personal story about race, pop culture, immigration, assimilation, and escaping the roles we are expected to play in America. Described as “a clever depiction of Hollywood dreaming itself,” the story follows actor Willis Wu as he tirelessly works towards graduating from Generic Asian Man to Kung Fu Guy, the role he has hoped for since childhood. Once his dreams have come true, he realized that being Kung Fu Guy may not save him from falling out of the story. Yu will be joined in conversation by author, producer, and comedian Raphael Bob-Waksberg.

Charles Yu is the author of How to Live Safely in a Science Fictional Universe, and writes for The New Yorker, The Wall Street Journal, and Slate, and has been nominated for two Writers Guild Awards for his work on HBO series Westworld.
