
Getty Marrow Undergraduate Internship Program – NOW OPEN
The goal of the Getty Marrow Undergraduate Internship program is to expose college students from backgrounds that have been underrepresented in the arts to careers in museums and visual arts organizations. The program offers full-time paid internships over the summer in core areas of museum work such as curatorship, conservation, education, publications, and public programming. LACE has served as a host organization for Getty Marrow Interns since 1996.
Internship hours are Monday through Friday, 9:30AM–5:30PM, with occasional weekend hours for events and programs as needed. Getty Marrow Curatorial and Programming Internship
The Getty Marrow Curatorial and Programming Intern will work closely with the Curator and Director of Programs, Selene Preciado, and the Operations and Production Coordinator, Johnny Young, in executing a wide range of programming activities, from research to logistics during events and public programs, as well as in research and development of exhibition projects. The intern will assist with the coordination of the performance series RESILIENCE at L.A. Dance Project, and the public art project Marcus Zúñiga: mirasol, at L.A. State Historic Park, among other projects and daily administrative tasks. The intern will gain experience in interdisciplinary curatorial research and writing, artist relations, public programming, and art handling and installation, among other skills. This internship is for a student who is interested in learning about the curatorial process and wants to develop administrative and exhibition production skills with critically engaged, exploratory, and community-responsive artists.
Getty Marrow Communications and Media Internship
The Getty Marrow Communications and Media Intern is responsible for creating a unique online presence for the organization under the supervision of LACE staff. Working closely with Communications and Events Coordinator Ida Tongkumvong and Deputy Director Fiona Crary, the intern will gain experience in creating social media campaigns, coordinating the organization’s print and digital marketing efforts, managing all press and academic inquiries, conducting community outreach to student groups, press, and interested audiences, and producing original content with an emphasis on marketing and implementation. This internship is for a student who is interested in learning about digital technologies, media and video production, digital communications, and marketing in a non-profit visual arts organization, and has basic knowledge of design and/or video production.
