Selene Preciado, Daniela Lieja Quintanar and Heber Rodríguez migrated to the United States when they were young and entered the art world; today they lead the curatorial proposals of important museums in Los Angeles County. Through their journeys, we trace the panorama of the art scene in that city.
“When I saw [Toy An-Horse] for the first time, I felt like someone understood me and my binational, bicultural condition. It was like finding myself and discovering a connection with the language of contemporary art. Of course, at that age I didn’t understand it that way, I was in high school, but it did make me feel a sense of belonging. I also use this Trojan horse piece as a metaphor for my first encounter with the city of Los Angeles. From the moment I saw it, I felt like we understood each other,” recalls Selene Preciado.
