2012 Artslink Fellow Zane Datava

October 11, 2012

Please join us in welcoming 2012 Artslink Fellow Zane Datava for a one-month research residency in Los Angeles. Datava is the Project Manager at the Latvian Centre for Contemporary Art in Riga, where she curates, produces and organizes exhibitions, interdisciplinary projects, workshops and discussions. Her most recent project is SURVIVAL KIT, a topical contemporary arts festival that utilizes empty business and office space for exhibitions and events. Datava also produces and curates festivals, concerts and events at Skanu mezs, an experimental music and sound art organization, and is interested in working on collaborative projects that bridge disciplines.

During her residency at LACE, Datava will meet with local artist, curators, and arts professionals to learn more about the Los Angeles art world, with a focus on public and social practices, performance, and experimental sound and music. Her residency will conclude with an event at LACE on 7 November where she will commission Los Angeles sound artists to compose new scores for works by Latvian video artists.
