The Future of Los Angeles and the Role of Artists

October 13, 2015 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Tuesday October 13, 2015, 6:30 pm

Los Angeles has never been a static city, but within the last several years change seems to be coming at an accelerated pace, bringing with it economic opportunity along with increasing inequality. In the face of these changes, what is the role of the artist in shaping L.A.’s future? With this question in mind, the California Community Foundation has organized a conversation around the leadership roles that Los Angeles artists are taking with regard to advocacy and civic engagement.

Moderated by Sofia Klatzker, Executive Director of Arts for LA, this panel will look at a few example projects, discuss the challenges and opportunities ahead, and address how artists can be more involved. Panelists include Simon Leung, James Rojas, and Consuelo Velasco Montoya.

The event is free and open to the public. Space is limited. Registration is required.
