Black Lives Matter

EN / ES

Dear Friends,

LACE stands in defense of Black lives. We stand in solidarity with the Black community of Los Angeles, the United States, and worldwide. We stand in solidarity with the uprising of the people and their right to protest. We believe in the collective power of the people. LACE mourns the death of George Floyd who was killed by the Minneapolis Police. We reclaim justice for him and his family. We claim justice for Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Tony McDade, David McAtee, and all Black people that have been killed and terrorized by police brutality.

We recognize the historically violent and racist system that we live in and we commit to listening, learning and acting to dismantle white supremacy. LACE believes in the power of art, but more importantly, in artists that every day bring questions, new ideas, and models to re imagine our world. LACE is committed to continue championing Black artists, curators, and cultural workers.

We call you to take action. In a video last night, our friend, artist, activist and co-founder of the Black Lives Matter Movement, Patrisse Cullors recommends that everyone:

  • Join an organization in your community, neighborhood, city or county. Be a part of something right now.
  • Protest in organized groups in your streets, as is your right.
  • Critically engage with what is happening in the media. Don’t take the news at first-hand value.
  • Stand up for each other.

“We must defund law enforcement and reimagine a world that relies on an economy of care versus an economy of punishment.” -Patrisse Cullors

With love and respect,
The LACE Team
