Freewaves launches its newest program: DIS…MISS
DIS…MISS is a public visual art experience, with digital media and performance art components.
Over the course of two years, 20 outstanding L.A. visual artists are coming together, creating dialogue, focusing on various publics and engaging people online. DIS…MISS will explore gendered images and messages from artists’ perspectives today with publics throughout Los Angeles. Images and videos address intersectional feminist issues, actually confronting inequalities and stereotypes.
Visual artists: April Bey, boychild, Cassils, Chan and Mann, Roya Falahi, Alexandra Grant, Micol Hebron, Thinh Nguyen, Ovarian Psycos, and Shizu Saldamando
Video artists: Adebukola Bodunrin, Mail Order Brides (Reanne Estrada, Eliza Barrios, and Jenifer Wofford), Gloria Morán, Meena Nanji, and Caress Reeves
Performance artists: Reanne Estrada and Amitis Motevalli
These audience engagements will take the forms of screenings, workshops, and discussions in the greater Los Angeles area and beyond.
