LACE FOREVER Artist Celebration

LACE FOREVER Artist Celebration

Thursday, September 25, 8:30–11 PM
Hosted by Lauren Bon and Metabolic Studio

Performance by 011668
Music curated by Canary Test with a DJ set by Colored Craig
Drinks by Chicas on the Rocks

Join our community of supporters and artists for a party to benefit LACE. As the city’s longest-running incubator for artistic experimentation, LACE champions artists, curators, and cultural workers who explore and defy boundaries through socially-engaged projects. We provide platforms within and beyond our space for diverse communities to connect deeply with challenging contemporary art. Benefit proceeds directly support LACE’s operations and programming, which platforms artists and communities currently under attack including LGBTQ+, disabled, immigrant, and BIPOC individuals. With the dismantling of federal funding for the arts and humanities, support for LACE’s Benefit is as urgent and impactful as ever.

LACE is grateful to our event hosts Lauren Bon and Metabolic Studio. This year, our annual benefit takes place within a living work: a milpa of corn, beans, and squash encircling the Mother Well, a sculptural portal to the buried LA River and a proposal for urban renewal through nourishment and interdependence.

$25–100 Artist Celebration Ticket
Individual ticket for Artist Celebration at Metabolic Studio including a performance by 011668 and music curated by Canary Test with a DJ set from Colored Craig. All tickets include one free drink, and the $100 ticket includes a special gift from LACE.

Want to do more for LACE? Join us at the Supporter Preview beforehand. Donors and contributing auction artists are invited to a private reception at 6:30PM on Thursday, September 25, which includes an intimate walk-through of Lauren Bon’s personal work, for the first time for this occasion. About Metabolic Studio
Metabolic Studio is an interdisciplinary art and research hub based in Los Angeles, California. Directed by artist Lauren Bon, the studio operates with a mission to explore and address critical social and environmental issues through art interventions and innovative projects aimed at reparation.

“Artists Need to Create On the Same Scale that Society Has the Capacity to Destroy.” is a phrase that inspired the formation and goals of the Metabolic Studio. The work of Metabolic Studio revolves around themes of water, land use, energy and seeking to reimagine and redefine the relationships between humans, non-humans, and living systems. The goal is to bridge the gap between art, science, and activism, offering creative solutions and alternative perspectives on pressing social and environmental challenges.

About 011668
011668 [b. 1995 Whittier, CA] is an American interdisciplinary artist exploring spirituality, mythology, and cosmogony through the digital age. Acknowledging industrial forces as our modern pantheon, 011668 unravels a contemporary creation myth while fusing elements of butoh dance, tokusatsu, and film noir.

About Canary Test
Canary Test amplifies sound as a physical and communal medium by creating space for sonic practices that expand conventional forms.

About Colored Craig
Colored Craig, once one of LA’s Best Kept Secrets, is no secret anymore. The Midwest native proudly wrecks the decks with all vinyl sets — a collection he amassed while frequenting parties in LA for years to hear some of the best DJ’s around. Inspired by the 90’s warehouse scene, Craig has made a name for himself at some of the most coveted clubs & festivals across the US, UK and Europe.
