Ready, Set, Go! High Performance Launch
Saturday, January 31, 2026, 1–5 PM | RSVP here
18th Street Arts Center

Join us at 18th Street Arts Center and Highways Performance Space with High Performance Editors Linda Frye Burnham and Steve Durland, for the launch party of High Performance: A 2-Year Conference (2025–2027). Highlights include artists: Suzanne Lacy, Paul McCarthy, Nancy Buchanan, Richard Newton, Leslie Labowitz Starus, Sisters of Survival, and many more!

These artists and others will present activations throughout the day, with a highlight of Lacy reimagining of her performance Cinderella in a Dragster (1976), as featured on the first High Performance cover in 1978, with a new 2025 speedster. LACE will be present with archival material for you to explore!

The High Performance: A 2-Year Conference (2025–2027), an unprecedented multi-year initiative dedicated to High Performance magazine. This collaboration with The Getty Research Institute (GRI) which houses High Performance’s archives, Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions (LACE), Highways Performance Space and Gallery (HPSG), and the Performance Art Museum (PAM)—together with academic partners—the series will explore High Performance’s lasting impact on the fields of art and performance. The initiative will develop programming that examines, celebrates, and documents the magazine’s history while extending its influence to a new generation of performance artists, scholars, and educators.
