The Essayistic in Film and Video

March 21 – April 30, 1989

The Essayistic brought together filmmakers, videomakers and writers in order to compare the literary form of the essay to the media arts. This compilation of works was curated by Michael Renov and co-presented by USC’s School of Cinema-Television and the Los Angeles Center for Photographic Studies. Artists featured: John Adams, Helen De Michiel, George Kuchar, Julie Zando, James Benning, Jonas Mekas and Trinh T. Min-ha.
