Join us on Saturday, December 14 from 11 AM–12:30 PM at LAMAG for “The Life Garden: Gardening Workshop,” part of our PST ART exhibition, “Beatriz da Costa: (un)disciplinary tactics.”

This workshop focuses on “The Life Garden,” an indoor medicinal garden, featuring herbs and plants known to support people living with cancer. Taylor “The Plant Plug” Lindsey will share their expertise, offering practical tips for building and maintaining your own garden at home. With support from botanist Aleen Vartivarian (@aleenvartivarian), participants will also learn about the health benefits of anti-cancer nutrition.

Join us on Saturday, December 14, from 1–3 PM for “The Delicious Apothecary: Cooking Workshop,” part of our PST ART exhibition, “Beatriz da Costa: (un)disciplinary tactics.”

This hands-on workshop explores “The Delicious Apothecary” (2012–13)—a wooden medicine cabinet featuring spices with cancer-fighting properties—and “The Anti-Cancer Cookbook” (2024). Led by chef Michelle Fuerst, participants will collaboratively prepare recipes from the cookbook, while learning about Fuerst’s past collaborations with Beatriz da Costa.

Held offsite at LACE’s Executive Director’s home, the workshop will follow the gardening workshop at LAMAG and conclude with a shared celebratory meal. Participants will be gifted a condensed version of da Costa’s ambitious artwork, The Anti-Cancer Survival Kit (2012–13), courtesy of the Beatriz da Costa Estate.
