Gina Osterloh Group Dynamic Catalogue Release Party
June 28, 2013 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
LACE invites you to join us in celebration for the book launch of Gina Osterloh: Group Dynamic, hosted by Commonwealth & Council. The artist will be joined by designer Willem Henri Lucas in a conversation about the concept and design for the catalogue. The discussion will address the Group Dynamic publication as an extended site of Gina’s residency and exhibition.
Los Angeles based artist Gina Osterloh is best known for exploring the wavering line between figure and ground, photographing herself, other people, fanciful, fabricated mannequins, or rough cardboard silhouettes against paper backdrops of her own devising. This catalogue documents Group Dynamics and Improper Light, her 2012 residency at LACE. She developed a major new body of work vis-à-vis relocating her studio into the main gallery, and engaged with the public across a diverse range of artistic platforms.
Generously illustrated with color and black and white images and designed by Willem Henri Lucas, Group Dynamic includes essays by Matthew Thompson and Kris Cohen and an interview with the artist by Michelle Dizon.
Group Dynamic is available from RAM Publications and will also be available for sale at the event for $19.95 +tax.
Please send us your RSVP at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The entrance to Commonwealth & Council is located between OB Bear and Amigos Liquor Market. There is free street parking after 6pm, and as a courtesy to the neighbors, please do not park in the OB Bear lot at Chung’s Appliance.
LACE would like to thank Young Chung and Commonwealth & Council for generously hosting this event. More on Commonwealth & Council here.
