ReVisions of LA with Summercamp

May 1, 2011 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

01 May 2011, 1 – 4 pm
ASAP @ LACE

LACE is located in the heart of Hollywood, an ideal place to observe and contemplate the collision of Los Angeles — its intricate networks hum with activity as resources are transferred and spaces are reconstructed through use or development. ASAP’s 2011 Re-Visions of LA drawing workshops will build conversations around how our urban environments are constructed and what that means to our every day lives. Each month a new group of artists will spend an afternoon at LACE providing free drawing classes.

All levels and ages are welcome as we talk about Hollywood while drawing our surroundings.

All workshops are free, and all materials will be supplied.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Summercamp is a home in the neighborhood of El Sereno, Los Angeles. The homemade modern house, full of pass-throughs and secret spaces, currently functions as an artist live/work space and hosts ProjectProject. Founded by Fatima Hoang, Elonda Billera and Janice Gomez in 2009, the space showcases exhibitions, performances, lectures, workshops, screenings and events by activating multiple parts of the property – installing works in the sloping backyard, projecting videos on the living room ceiling, and showcasing musical performances in the old goat pen. Summercamp’s ProjectProject’s upcoming exhibition Start the ball rolling again, opening June 12th, will feature works by artists who re-purpose ideas and translate materials.
