Social Media for Artists Workshop with Center for Cultural Innovation
September 20, 2016 – 6:30 – 9:30 PM
Workshop Fee: $40 through September 6, $50 after September 6
Tickets can be purchased here.

Social media pervades almost every aspect of contemporary professional life. For artists in particular, these primarily visual platforms can boost an artist’s impact at any stage in their career journey. While there are a wealth of platforms available to promote your work – Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, Snapchat, Facebook Live, (and more!) – not all platforms work for all artistic disciplines.

This workshop is for artists and organizations who have a basic familiarity with social media and are ready to explore which platforms will most benefit their specific promotional goals.  As a participant in this workshop you will learn to assess the shareable aspects of your work and generate a plan to best engage and expand your online community.

In addition, participants will:

– Review successful social media campaigns in various disciplines
– For the promotion-shy: discuss re-framing techniques that shift focus away from “popularity” back to sharing your work with a community who needs what you produce
– Develop content and engagement strategies based on the time you have to devote to this practice
– Explore various paid social media strategies
– Learn tools for growth and expansion and set gauges for success

**Recommended but not Required: Bringing a smartphone, tablet or laptops to walk through various tools and practices.**
