Grand Opening of LACE’s New Building

February 21, 1986

The grand opening of LACE’s new space on Industrial Street and the first exhibition in the new site was a gala block-party event that featured a building dedication ceremony and musical performances by Soave Bolla, the Compton High School Marching Band, The Holy Siters of the Gaga Dada and the Polkacides. LACE’s new building, designed by architect Jon Thogmartin, includes 3,000 square feet of exhibition space; a 500 square foot bookstore; four live-in/work lofts for artists; bathroom by Lari Pittman; men’s room, by Dede Bazyk and signage by Bob Hope Zoell.
