LACE se mantiene en defensa de las vidas Negras. Estamos en solidaridad con la comunidad Afroamericana y Negra de Los Ángeles, Estados Unidos, y el mundo. Estamos en solidaridad con las manifestaciones y el derecho civil de la gente a protestar. Nosotrxs creemos en el poder del pueblo. LACE lamenta la muerte de George Floyd, quien fue asesinado por la policía de Minneapolis. Nosotrxs reclamamos justicia para él y su familia. Reclamamos justicia para Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Tony McDade, David McAtee, y todas las personas Negras que han sido asesinadas y aterrorizadas por la brutalidad policial. 

Reconocemos la violencia y el racismo histórico de el sistema en que vivimos, y estamos comprometidos a escuchar, aprender y actuar para desmantelar la supremacía blanca. LACE cree en el poder del arte, pero más importante en lxs artistas que diraio cuestionan, crean nuevas ideas, y modelos para reimaginar nuestro mundo. LACE está comprometido a seguir impulsando artistas, curadores y trabajadores culturales Negros. 

Te llamamos a tomar acción. Anoche en un video, nuestra amigx, artista, activistx y cofundadorx de Black Lives Matter (las vidas Negras importan), Patrisse Cullors recomienda a todxs:

  • Únete a una organización en tu comunidad, vecindad, ciudad, o condado. Se parte de algo hoy.
  • Protesta con grupos organizados en tu calle, es tu derecho civil.
  • Enfrenta de forma crítica lo que presentan los medios de comunicación. No tomes las noticias televisadas a valor de primera mano.
  • Defiende el uno al otro.

This is the final week to apply for the 2026 Light This is the final week to apply for the 2026 Lightning Fund! LACE is awarding 10 artist project grants of $6,000 each, as well as one $10,000 Jacki Apple Award grant to a mid- or advanced-career artist. Applications close this Sunday, October 5, 2025, at 11:59 PM PDT.

Applicants who are LA County residents, are at least 18 years of age, and are not currently enrolled in a college program, will be considered. Learn more about previously selected projects and submit an application through the Submittable portal at the link in our bio.
