LACE hosted to the Fifth National Association of Artists’ Organization’s (NAAO) Conference for more than 300 artists, arts administrators, educators and others to discuss issues relevant to the organizations and it’s constituency. Conference events included panel discussions, workshops, open forums, performances, receptions, parties and tours. Respected leaders in the field addressed concerns such as ethics for the field, co-optation, new feminist theory, securing housing for artists and artist organizations, the history and future of the field, the role of literary arts and education. Practical topics included: exhibit design, desk-top publishing, video editing services and direct mail campaigns. NAAO at LACE was supported in part by the National Endowment for the Arts, the California Arts Council, and NAAO’s patrons and members.
