For the Listening Party, RJ Smith expertly led a wander through Detroit’s musical (and political) history. Smith is the author of The Great Black Way: LA in the 1940s and the Lost African American Renaissance and is a Senior Editor at Los Angeles Magazine. He is currently writing a biography of James Brown.
