Thank you to everyone who attended “ENDURANCE” Thank you to everyone who attended “ENDURANCE” this past Friday and Saturday, May 16–17. Held over two nights at L.A. Dance Project, “ENDURANCE” showcased re-stagings and new commissions by legacy performance, dance, and literary artists. Pictured here is Awilda Sterling-Duprey (@awildasterling) performing “Makandal es la consigna / Makandal Is the Call to Action” (2025). The performance draws from the myth of François Mackandal, the 18th-century Haitian revolutionary who, after being captured and burned alive, vanished without a trace and became a symbol of resistance.

“ENDURANCE” featured performances by artists including Gloria Enedina Álvarez (@gloriaenedinalvarez), Kamau Daáood, Anna Homler, Jeff Schwartz, and David Javelosa, Ulysses Jenkins and his band “Who Dat!,” Juanita and Juan (@alice_bag + @kidcongopowers), Sharon Kagan (@sharonkagan), Hirokazu Kosaka, Oguri, Sheree Rose (@msrosebush), Barbara T. Smith, The Dark Bob, and Awilda Sterling-Duprey. The program also featured films by Eiko Otake (@eiko_otake), Joan Jonas (@broadcove), and Marnie Weber (@marnieweberstudio).

LACE is pleased to announce “This Home, Forever, LACE is pleased to announce “This Home, Forever,” a two-day performance series curated by LACE 2025 Emerging Curator Nahui Garcia. Happening June 7–8, from 7–10 PM, “This Home Forever” sparks thoughts about the potential erosion of Los Angeles’s diverse and vibrant urban ecosystem against the backdrop of gentrification. 

“This Home, Forever” is a stage, a forum, and a dynamic workshop nurtured by a group of artists and activists devoted to and inspired by Los Angeles. Participating artists include Performance Artist 011668 (@0ll668), Perras Bravas (@perras.bravas), Michele Lorusso (@michelelorusso), Jaklin Romine (@jakioeoeo), San Fernando Valley music project Pacoima Techno (@pacoimatechno), and Los Angeles Poverty Department (@lapovertydepartment).

As part of a special Mother’s Day celebration in As part of a special Mother’s Day celebration in 1990, Freshly Wrapped Candies headlined a two-night celebration of motherhood at LACE, featuring an eclectic group of artists, musicians, poets, and performers. 

Among them was Anna Homler (@homlerian), who will be performing with Jeff Schwartz and David Javelosa (@microwave_buddha) during “ENDURANCE” next Sunday, May 17.
